Unfortunately, in countries like Gambia, girls and women encounter daily obstacles to education, exacerbated by poverty and entrenched cultural norms. Shockingly, 38% of female Gambians are currently excluded from accessing education. That’s why the De Silva Foundation will be sponsoring the education and healthcare needs of Jenny. Jenny lost her sponsor due to the pandemic’s financial constraints, but now she will be able to return to school and gain access to the education she needs. It’s difficult for her mother to keep both Jenny and her sister in school since their dad is no longer in their lives. We are delighted about this sponsorship and eager to see what the future holds for Jenny.
